FairPlay Minimum Age to Register in India

Find out the exact age requirement to open a FairPlay account and start betting on cricket or casino games.

It is a Tuesday evening in Bangalore. You have just finished a shift at the tech park, ordered a masala dosa from the canteen downstairs, and opened WhatsApp to see a mate's screenshot of a tidy win on the IPL match earlier. He sends the FairPlay link. You tap it, the app loads, and the first screen asks for your date of birth. You pause. You turned twenty last month. Is that enough? You do not want to fill in a form, upload a PAN card, and then hit a wall because the platform says twenty-one.

The Rule Is Simple

FairPlay requires every new customer to be at least eighteen years old on the day they submit the registration form. That is the only number that matters. If your birthday was yesterday and you are now eighteen, you can proceed. If you are seventeen and eleven months, you cannot. The platform does not make exceptions for state rules, parental consent, or the fact that you already bet with a local bookie. The age gate is built into the sign-up flow before you even choose a username.

You will see the date-of-birth field on the very first screen of the FairPlay registration page. Enter it honestly. The system checks the year instantly. If the calculation shows you are under eighteen, the button to continue stays disabled. No amount of refreshing or switching browsers changes that.

Why Age Verification Happens at Sign-Up

Indian regulators and payment partners expect every licensed operator to know their customer before any money moves. FairPlay uses the date of birth you provide to run an instant eligibility check. Later, when you deposit via UPI or request a withdrawal, the same birth date is cross-referenced with the PAN or Aadhaar you upload. A mismatch — say you typed 1999 but your PAN shows 2005 — flags the account for manual review. That review can take forty-eight hours, during which your balance is frozen.

The platform also uses the age data to tailor responsible-gaming tools. Customers between eighteen and twenty-five see deposit-limit prompts more often. The logic is straightforward: younger players statistically chase losses faster. If you want to understand the full suite of safeguards, the FairPlay responsible gaming page lists every tool available.

What Documents FairPlay Accepts

After you clear the age gate, the next screen asks for identity proof. FairPlay accepts three documents for Indian users: PAN card, Aadhaar card, or a valid passport. Driving licences are accepted only if the address matches the one you registered with. Voter ID cards work but take longer to verify because the OCR engine sometimes misreads the Hindi script.

  • PAN card — fastest, usually auto-approved in under five minutes.
  • Aadhaar card — works well; mask the first eight digits before uploading.
  • Passport — ideal if you are an NRI betting from Mumbai during a visit home.

The document must be in colour, all four corners visible, and the file size under 5 MB. Blurry photos from a dimly lit room in Pune will be rejected. If you are uploading from the FairPlay app, use the in-app camera — it adds a watermark that speeds up the review queue.

Common Mistakes That Delay Your Account

First, entering a fake birth year to skip the gate. The system compares it with your PAN the moment you upload. A mismatch triggers a hard lock. Support cannot override it; you have to wait for the compliance team in Gurugram to email you a correction form. That takes three to five business days.

Second, using a parent's document because you are seventeen. The name on the PAN must match the name on the registration form. If your father's name is Rajesh Sharma and you signed up as Arjun Sharma, the verification fails. FairPlay does not allow third-party accounts.

Third, uploading a screenshot of a document instead of a photo. The fraud engine detects screen glare and moiré patterns instantly. Take a fresh photo. Place the card on a dark surface, tap to focus, and shoot. It takes ten seconds and saves you a day of back-and-forth emails.

After Verification — What Changes

Once the green tick appears next to your profile icon, three things unlock. You can deposit any amount via UPI, NetBanking, or the integrated wallets listed on the FairPlay payment methods page. You become eligible for the first-deposit offer — the exact percentage changes, so check the promotions tab before you fund. And you can place bets on live cricket, kabaddi, or the casino tables without the "account under review" banner blocking the bet slip.

Withdrawals also open up. The first payout always goes back to the same UPI handle you deposited from. If you used PhonePe to add ₹2,000, the winnings return to that PhonePe number. Switching destinations requires a new KYC round, so keep your primary payment method handy.

If you ever hit a snag — say the OTP does not arrive because your Jio number is roaming in Delhi — the FairPlay customer support chat runs twenty-four hours. Mention your registered email and the last four digits of your PAN. They resolve most verification tickets in one session.

Quick Checklist Before You Tap Register

  • Confirm you are eighteen or older today.
  • Have a valid PAN, Aadhaar, or passport ready.
  • Use the same name on the document and the sign-up form.
  • Take a clear, well-lit photo of the document.
  • Keep your primary UPI app installed for the first deposit.

That is the whole picture. No hidden clauses, no state-by-state carve-outs. Eighteen is the line. Cross it with the right paper and you are in. Your mate's IPL win screenshot is waiting — go make your own.
